fps feels much lower than 60
Fedora KDE with RX 6800 and R5 3600x
in multiple games when i lock my fps to 60fps it feels more like 30fps - Examples of this being days gone (both using in game fps limiter and mangohud), the witcher 3 and fallout 4 this isnt much of an issue in the days gone and the witcher 3 as i just set to 90fps and have no issues however fallout 4 the engine has issues when going above 60fps
I do have a 144hz monitor and have disabled adaptive sync as the lower i set my fps the more the screen began to flicker in game has anyone else had similar experiences and if so have you been able to solve them?

How's the Gnome 46 performance compared to plasma 6?
Edit: I'm talking about VRR and performance impact, I murdered it on the title!
I've only found a thread that's about a year old https://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/vg09tl/gnome_mutter_vrr_patch_outperforming_kde_on/ and it talks about mutter vs. plasma 5.
Curious to see how things changed since them.

drm/amdgpu: Fix comparison in amdgpu_res_cpu_visible
commit 8d2c930735f850e5be6860aeb39b27ac73ca192f upstream.
It incorrectly claimed a resource isn't CPU visible if it's located at the very end of CPU visible VRAM.
This was problem:

Steam on Ubuntu not launching any game
So I’ve recently decided to return to Ubuntu since I was tired of Windows being so bloated and getting slower over time. I also have a Steam Deck which has showed me that gaming on Linux is more than possible.
So this weekend I decided to install Ubuntu in one SSD and keep Windows in another one while keeping the games I had installed on Windows on a 1TB HDD.
The thing is that after installing and configuring proton on Ubuntu I decided to download Red Dead Redemption 2 on my HDD and try to play it. I was able to install it and launch the Rockstar Launcher. But once it finished and I hit “play” it tries to load the Rockstar Launcher but it suddenly closes and never launches the game.
I’ve already done some research but I can’t find any working fix. Some say to format the HDD to a FAT32 format, but I don’t really know if it will work since it’s capable to execute (or at least try to open) the Rockstar Launcher.
Any idea on how may I fix it? Thanks!

How the hell i make this joypad work on linux
This junk works perfctly on windows. It has some modes. When the leds 3 and 4 are up the controller is direct input mode, which works perfectly in linux. When you hold mode button leds 1 and 2 are up, the controller is in xinput. As i said works on windows, but not on linux. It freezes my Linux Mint and it starts to open several firefox windows.
Someone have a issue like that?
Edit: I hd to delete previus post cause the images didn't loaded and the reddit didn't allowed me to edit.

Ghost of Tsushima online mode, why the developers say it can't run under Linux
The developers said it requires windows for online mode, but as I understand it, it's just the PlayStation overlay required for online. Any other overlay works under Linux ea, Ubisoft, Epic and so on. So why shouldn't it work with the PlayStation overlay?

New here and trying to understand why Endeavour OS has higher FPS than Ubuntu 22.04
Hi. I have just migrated from Mac OS to Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. So far I am happy. But I wanted to see why Endeavour OS gets recommended so much. I installed it on another drive. Running Steam and Dota 2, I can use a lot higher settings and still get really good FPS on my Intel Iris Pro graphics.
Just for interest sake, I would like to understand Linux a bit better and why this is. I suspect it is because Ubuntu uses a standard driver in the kernel. But when installing everything on Endeavour it gave me an option to install Vulkan drivers (which Dota 2 uses).
If drivers are the case, how do I install them on Ubuntu? Because doing searches online every answer I get says that the driver is already built into the kernel, and no further help is given.
On the other side, I am contemplating moving over to Endeavour. It seems much better so far anyway. I would still like to know why there is a difference otherwise I will never learn how Linux and gaming on linux works anyway.

Steam Store and games unable to connect to network, but all other applications work fine
Output of uname -a: Linux dusk 6.8.9-arch1-2 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Tue, 07 May 2024 21:35:54 +0000 x86_64 GNU/Linux Distro: Arch
About a day ago, after an update, the Steam Store (application, installed from Arch official repositories, also happens with Flatpak version) has stopped being able to connect to the internet (error -105, which I believe is the generic "no internet" error), and it is the same for games launched from Steam. All other applications work fine. I can't find anyone else that's experiencing this (although a thread from a few years ago suggested that it could have something to do with the Kernel, however it got patched in about a week). Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance

FOR THOSE THAT NEED HELP MODDING RDR2 ON STEAM DECK , COMPLETE GUIDE.
COMPLETE GUIDE ON MODDING RDR2 ON STEAM DECK.
Step 1: Add RDR2 to steam if using rockstar games launcher . Otherwise continue normally on steam.
Step 2: under properties, launch options, and paste this text EXACTLY AS WRITTEN in the launch options:
Launch Options text :
WINEDLLOVERRIDES=vulkan-1,dinput8,version,ScriptHookRDR2,OutfitChanger,EasyHook,EasyHook64,EasyHookPatch,EasyLoad64,NativeInterop,SimpleHook=n,b %command%
Step 3: download the RDR2 ScriptHook from this site: http://www.dev-c.com/rdr2/scripthookrdr2/
(already comes with the asi loader, such as dinput8.dll)
IF for some reason it redirects you on the blog page , just click again on the ScriptHookrdr2 post.
Step 4: When downloaded paste all the files (such as ScriptHookRDR2.dll, Dinput8.dll into rdr2 main directory/root folder)
(exactly where rdr2.exe is located)
Step 5: install Latest Proton GE
if you don't know how to install it i'll explain : go on desktop mode, open discover store , search ProtonUp-qt and install it, once done open it and install protonGE lastest version.
Once finished shut down the steam deck and power it again, ProtonGE should now pop up in the compatibility options.
Step 6: if all has gone well you should now be able to install native .asi mods, LennySimpleTrainer, OutfitChanger , Rampage trainer and LennyModLoader (for mods that need LML)
For the LennyModLoader , i know that some folks aren't able to get the ModManagerUI.exe that opens the Mod Manager to work after installing LML properly , but it's actually pretty simple to do .
so let's go.
Just go on steam ,add non steam game , browse files , go where the ModManager folder is located and add ModManagerUI.exe as non steam game , go in the the compatibility options and select ProtonGE or Proton Experimental .
Open the application and select RDR2 main folder and click save , done.
From here you are able to download pretty much every mod you want.
